The Pyeongchang Olympics Torch Relay began in Korea on November 1st last year. It has been carried by proud Koreans from across the cities in South Korea. Last January 28th, a Philippine-born Korean joined the torch relay. Gerlyn Dulana Park carried the torch in Yangyang and she carried it with pride as a Filipino and naturalized Korean. She represented the multicultural community ~ specifically of marriage immigrants.
Four years ago, Jasmine Lee was one of the flag carriers during the Asian Games in Incheon.
Gerlyn Dulana Park hails from Bayog in Zamboanga del Sur in the Philippines. She got married in May 2005 to a Korean. While her husband (who is proud of his amazing wife) was unable to take photos of her during the event, her kind Korean friends readily snapped photos of this historic event in her life. Here are some photos from her wall (posting with permission). You made us proud!
Let’s all support the Pyeongchang Olympics. The Opening Ceremony is on February 9, 2018 and it will be broadcast worldwide.
